Thanks to all of these donors for their generosity!

We at National Stroke Association and the thousands of people we interact with every year offer our sincere thanks.

As many of your know in 2001 over Easter weekend my mom suffered a stroke while on a ski hill in the USA. She spent a few days in a wonderful American hospital, then came back to Canada only to relapse. This was something that we never imagined nor did we see any signs of this possibly happening. It was an extremely scary time for the whole family.

Recover took many months and in some ways years. What is truly amazing is that she never let her stroke change her spirit. She made changes to diet, work and overall stress, but always kept her positive spirit and was a true symbol of overcoming a major life obstacle.

This is my second time running the NYC marathon. The first time was about a "bucket list" accomplishment. This time I wanted to run for a cause...but a cause that was important to me.

I am not running in memory of that terrible time she went through, but to celebrate who she has become now. My mom retired, and followed her dream to write a novel, while also become a full-time ski instructor out West; teaching people from all over the world.

Instead of letting the stroke stop her, she is celebrating life, by travelling, enjoying everyday with her husband, kids, grand-kids and friends.

So please donate to this fund. Donate, raise a glass, and say cheers to life...just like my mom does everyday. :)
