Dear Friends and Family,
On November 3, 2013 I will be running 26.2 miles in the ING New York City Marathon, with a $3,000 fund raising goal for the National Stroke Association.
I have never run a marathon before. The longest race I have ever run is 10k. I have just recovered from a back injury and started training on August 20, 2013. Running this 26.2 mile marathon will be a stretch goal.
The 26.2 miles will take me through Staten Island, Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, and the Bronx. See http://www.ingnycmarathon.org for additional details.
Why Do I Run?
I run for my Mom. In November this year it will be 2 years since my mom died from a stroke.
Strokes have the ability to take many amazing people away from us and these past couple of years were no different. Gayle Toon, a wonderful mother, supporter, and friend to so many, fought a tough battle against a stroke. She was admired among us as being funny, a great person to talk with, and genuinely charming woman who was frequently characterized as the nicest person you will ever meet. While Gayle may have passed on, her positive and upbeat attitude towards family, friends and life will forever be remembered.
In Mom's honour my goal is to raise at least $3,000 towards stroke awareness that most effectively benefits the National Stroke Association's Team. With your generosity and help, by November 3rd I hope that we will have met and surpassed this goal.
An easy way to participate: The NY Marathon is 26.2 miles long, so....
1. $1 per mile=$26.20
2. $2 per mile=$52.40
3. $3 per mile=$78.60
In advance, I would like to thank all of you who donate to this cause; whether through a big or small donation, every bit helps.
Should you have any questions regarding the National Stroke Association or donations do not hesitate to contact me.
Thank you for your support. I look forward to keeping you updated on our progress.
P.S. Mom, I love you.
