On March 30, 2011 my Dad had a stroke. The next day he died at the age of 55. It is one of the most heartbreaking events that I have ever experienced. My Mom, sisters, and brother miss him every single day, and know that although he may not be with us physically, he is ALWAYS with us.

In the year that has gone by since my Dad has passed I have come across many people who knew my Dad. There is one recurring theme in all of their interactions with him. He invigorated people with his positivity and his way about him. He could make your day with a story, a song, or even just a smile or nod. I always knew that my Dad could do those things for me, but when random strangers tell you this, it is memorable.

To honor my Dad and his passion for both the big and little things in life I have decided to run the ING New York City Marathon this November, to be exact November 4, 2012. This of course falls into the category of big things. Each step of the 26.2 mile journey won't be as difficult knowing that my Dad will be there helping me through the adventure.

As a member of the National Stroke Association's ING New York City Marathon team, I am hoping to raise money and awareness for stroke. I'm also planning on having an awesome time doing it.

Thanks for all of your support. I appreciate it so much.

The marathon is GLORIOUS...!
