George Davis, Sr.‘s Legacy Fund was established in 2011 to honor his commitment to stroke prevention and treatment. Our friends and loved ones supported his passion by generously contributing over $50,000 to National Stroke Association in his memory. Thus, we have carried on his commitment to help prevent stroke and to improve the lives affected by it.
To honor his legacy, our family has taken up the torch of George’s vision by continuing our partnership with National Stroke Association’s Board of Directors and CEO Jim Baranski in creating the George Davis Sr. Legacy Fund. Dedicated to improve the lives of more than seven million stroke survivors in the United States, the George Davis Sr. Legacy Fund will be 100 percent focused on improving the stroke continuum from hospital to home.
By supporting the George Davis Sr. Legacy Fund, you have the opportunity to be a research pioneer to support the development and validation of technology with the potential to change the face of medicine. You may have heard of telemedicine, a cutting edge concept that leverages communication technology to connect healthcare providers and patients who are in completely different locations. Currently, many advances in telemedicine are focused on acute care settings, such as hospital emergency rooms. Telerehab represents a new approach, one focused on increasing quality of care by using technology to embed the patient’s rehabilitation program including virtual clinical “visits” in the patient’s home.
The promise of telerehab is clear: no longer will financial resources or geographic location limit a patient’s ability to access top quality rehabilitative care.
The George Davis Sr. Legacy Fund can play a key role in improving the quality of life for stroke survivors by providing funding to increase cutting-edge research and technology development at the intersection of telemedicine and rehab. By combining National Stroke Association’s disease expertise and strong medical advisory connections with the Legacy Fund’s monetary resources, we will work towards providing pioneering rehabilitative services to underserved communities all across the United States.
