I am raising awareness and celebrating stroke survivors at the Long Island Comeback Trail 5K - a charity event that supports the National Stroke Association. This 5K walk/fun-run empowers stroke survivors and caregivers to #ComebackStrong. I have set a fundraising goal to support the stroke rehabilitation and prevention efforts of the National Stroke Association.
Please support me, and the 7 million stroke survivors in the United Sates, by making a donation today. Together, we can empower survivors and caregivers as they come back strong from stroke.
I am a survivor of an ischemic stroke and proud to be a survivor. I am extremely thankful to still be here and come as far as I have in my own recovery and struggles. This 5K will be a challenge for me to complete but my determination to always "Come Back Strong" if not stronger grows with each obstacle I will overcome. But my challenges pale in comparison to the struggles that all stroke survivors go through each and every day. I do this 5K not just for myself but all stroke survivors, their families, support teams, and caregivers. I also do this for the Stroke Survivor Support Group of Shelton, Connecticut. They welcomed me in and provide encouragement and support in my survivor journey. I will do my best to make you all proud and help raise stroke awareness.
Everyone should know the signs of a stroke. It can happen to anyone, at any time, of any age from children to the elderly.
Did you know?
- Stroke is the 5th leading cause of death in the U.S. & a leading cause of adult disability.
- Every 40 seconds someone in the U.S. experiences a stroke.
- Every 4 minutes someone in the U.S. dies from a stroke.
- Stroke kills two times more women than breast cancer annually.
That's why I'm participating, will you join me?
