Thank you for taking the time to check out my personal fundraising page and considering supporting me and my team in our fundraising efforts. This year, I am joining my good friend, Claudia, walk on 10/20/18 to raise funds and stroke awareness. As some of you may know from my prior social media posts, recently my mid-30 year old friend suffered an unexpected, catastrophic major stroke that has affected and altered her physical and verbal function. She has tirelessly fought and continues to fight daily to continue to recover, strengthen and heal. More amazingly, whereas some people could take such a life altering event and shut down and turn inward, Claudia has amazingly and consciously chosen to try to find the positive meanings in her struggle and to take from it any good she can. For example, most recently she had to give up a dream job she had due to her physical struggles and limitations in speech and written communication. Brokenheartedly giving up the position she worked so hard to get, instead of accepting it as a defeat, she has now taken a position with John's Crazy Socks where she now has a blog and willingly, openly and bravely shares her stories and struggles on her path to recover- consciously choosing to vulnerably acknowledge and share her own current limitations, fears, doubts and stories of perseverance to perhaps inspire others who may need that extra push to get back out there, don't give up, carry on. In short- she's an amazing hero and inspiration I get to know, and now you do, too. Not to mention that Grandma Deacy was a stroke survivor as well...
SOOOOO (I'm pouring it on thick, I know, here's the grand finale!!!) I am raising awareness and celebrating stroke survivors at the Long Island Comeback Trail 5K - a charity event that supports the National Stroke Association. This 5K walk/fun-run empowers stroke survivors (like Grandma and Claudia) and caregivers (like Claudia's amazing husband, family and friends) to #ComebackStrong. I have set a fundraising goal to support the stroke rehabilitation and prevention efforts of the National Stroke Association and thank you for taking the time to consider helping me reach it!!!
Please support me, and the 7 million stroke survivors in the United Sates, by making a donation today. Together, we can empower survivors and caregivers as they come back strong from stroke.
Did you know?
- Stroke is the 5th leading cause of death in the U.S. & a leading cause of adult disability.
- Every 40 seconds someone in the U.S. experiences a stroke.
- Every 4 minutes someone in the U.S. dies from a stroke.
- Stroke kills two times more women than breast cancer annually.
That's why I'm participating, will you support us?
