Strokes are vastly common in my family and many other families i know. I want to protect my family. I want there to be more knowledge of strokes in the future compared to what we have at this time.
I myself have had a TIA and the idea of passing this down to my children terrified me. The idea of more of my family and friends having strokes scares me. I have seen my sister have many TIA’s and before that i took a flight to see her after her major stroke in Arkansas.
There are many more family members in my life that have experienced this terrible event. I worry there isn’t enough information and studies that are out there to help those who have suffered a stroke or for their caretakers. I want to walk (this is my first walk since back surgery) for my sister, for my children and for those who never had the chance to know what was happening to them when the stroke occurred.
From what i experienced for my TIA was terrifying and i lost all control. To know there is something worse then that with permanent effects is quite terrifying. Let us walk to remember those who either lost their life or lost abilities to such a terrible event and let’s raise the money to help build a general understanding and a cure. Please help me raise $100 so we can know more and help more!
I am raising awareness and celebrating stroke survivors at the Washington D.C. Comeback Trail 5K - a charity event that supports the National Stroke Association. This 5K walk/fun-run empowers stroke survivors and caregivers to #ComebackStrong. I have set a fundraising goal to support the stroke rehabilitation and prevention efforts of the National Stroke Association.
Please support me, and the 7 million stroke survivors in the United Sates, by making a donation today. Together, we can empower survivors and caregivers as they come back strong from stroke.
Did you know?
- Stroke is the 5th leading cause of death in the U.S. & a leading cause of adult disability.
- Every 40 seconds someone in the U.S. experiences a stroke.
- Every 4 minutes someone in the U.S. dies from a stroke.
- Stroke kills two times more women than breast cancer annually.
That's why I'm participating, will you join me?
