Matt Wilks has worked with Sheltering Arms Physical Rehabilitation Centers for eleven years and has been the Director of Inpatient Therapy Services for the past five years. Matt is continually striving to raise awareness and knowledge about all facets of stroke to the community. Matt has delivered numerous professional presentations to educate colleagues and others in the healthcare field about the opportunities in stroke rehabilitation. In 2008, Matt lectured on "Neuroplasticity and Rehabilitation" at the Richmond Stroke Symposium as well as "New Opportunities in Stroke Rehabilitation" that same year. Matt has been presenting on clinical topics at the MCV School of Physical Therapy at various times over the years starting since 2003 until the present time. Matt has continued his clinical education in the area of stroke rehabilitation in order to stay ahead of the curve. He has gained knowledge in the classroom along with gaining knowledge by consistently reviewing current research and visiting other rehabilitation centers throughout the country. Matt Wilks and Sheltering Arms strive to reduce the occurrence and severity of stroke by education, prevention and to promote stroke recovery with a full continuum of care provided through the Sheltering Arms Network for Neuro Recovery Services.
