Mobility and Stroke: Exoskeletons Advancing Rehabilitation

An estimated 17 million people around the world will experience stoke each year and more than 60% of survivors will find themselves unable to walk or need assistance.

In order to combat this problem the National Stroke Association and Ekso Bionics have formed an education partnership aimed at raising awareness and access to exoskeletons in order to advance stroke rehabilitation to help survivors gain earlier mobility and restore their independence.

The goal of the partnership is to bring hope back to stroke survivors and help them regain independence. In order to achieve this goal devices such as the EksoGT™, the first FDA-cleared exoskeleton device for stroke rehabilitation, are being utilized to make life post-stroke easier for survivors.

She says, “I want to share my story to let others know they aren’t alone and perhaps inspire them to move forward, have faith in themselves, challenge themselves and know that the life they want to lead is possible.”
