What is a TIA?

A transient ischemic attack (TIA) can mimic stroke-like symptoms. These symptoms last less than 24 hours. While TIAs generally do not cause permanent brain damage, they are a serious warning sign that a stroke may happen in the future and should not be ignored.

‘Grateful Just to be Alive’

For Boyce, walking required tremendous focus. He lost vision in his right eye and had hyper-sensitive hearing—all after experiencing a hemorrhagic stroke. In a confused state, he tried to flee the hospital via the Dallas transit system. Today he credits his wife, her kindness and resilience, in his recovery.
